:D Is Shep a bastard? I honestly didn't notice in the two seasons I saw. Mostly he seemed slightly befuddled and just a bundle of loyalty and badassedness and drawling sarcasm. Rodney and John, though...that would be interesting.

It's been a long time since I've watched SGA, too, and even then I mainly did it for my best friend, who rather loves it. Rodney definitely comes off as a bastard, though, constantly putting people down and going on about how smart he is. Of course, he's not wrong--he really is that smart. He just has extremely poor social skills.
