Jack wondered how many people the Winchesters had saved over the years, people who never knew they were even in danger before the threat was vanquished. Like how the world remained in ignorance of what horrors existed just outside the light of their tiny yellow sun, of how many battles had been fought and lives had been sacrificed to keep this planet safe. They weren’t so different, this little family of ghost-hunters and Jack’s team of eight long, hard years.

Nice parallels there. I like that, in the end, it was Jack's ability to comfort lost kids that saved the day.

Thanks! I wanted the story to be resolved in a way that showed just how necessary Jack was, to this particular hunt. If Dean had been alone, or even with his dad or Sam, I don't think it would have gone so well.

Thank you. :) I do love Jack very much. It was fun to showcase his skills in this fic--not just the action hero, but also the kind, compassionate man he usually hides.

Awww! This was a cool chapter. I love how Jack told the story of what happened to Abe, giving her peace. But now similar stuff is brought up in Dean, and he misses Sam so much. :( At least Jack's there.

I like using circumstances in stories to show something about the characters, portray them in a different light. And of course, I love my woobie Dean. :) Glad you enjoyed!

I'm being lame and just leaving this message to tell you... I WILL be reading this story. (It would take too longer now to catch up, and I'd rather get it in one fail swoop.) So when you finish, I'll be all over it. I started a few chapters and I like what I see.
