halfway home and we'll be there by morning

I seriously need to make a B-sides or something for the I've Been Everywhere fanmix. I keep finding more songs that definitely should have been on it. Like The City of New Orleans by Steve Goodman:

Granted, it's about a train. But "Good morning, America, how are ya? Don't you know me, I'm your native son..." Doesn't that just scream Dean Winchester?

It sure does.

Like a Rolling Stone by Dylan is sort of the same way. Not all the lyrics apply (and maybe some can be attributed to Sam), but it's still a pretty great song.

Oh, and A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall? Great song!

Gah, so much gorgeous imagery in that thing. Bleak and sad and beautiful. Fodder for a million stories.

Like, I heard a few here and there? And I always knew he was a great writer, wrote some of the best songs ever. Thought he was a cool dude and all. Then I started reading that Dean/Cas BB with the radio show and all the music links, and I got majorly distracted by the Dylan-ness. I still haven't finished reading the fic. But today I went and made a Pandora station for Bob Dylan and Hard Rain was the first song and yeah. Solid gone.

Bob Dylan is good stuff, but you can't listen to Bob Dylan without also listening to Joan Baez, if you haven't already. She did a lot of awesome stuff in her own right, but she did a lot of covers of Bob Dylan's songs (they were dating or something) and in some cases, she did them better than he could. Like "God on our side" which never fails to get to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrwOCnLXdGo... )

i personally love the song With God on Our Side.

specifically the version that Jon Foreman (lead singer of Switchfoot) did as a cover during a sound check...

WELCOME TO THE BOB DYLAN PARTY! I saw him live a couple years ago, and it was AMAZING.
