Snow is pretty, y'all. Like, really, really pretty.

My family had better make some snow ice cream today, or I will be bitterly disappointed.

Or I'll just make it myself, come to think of it.

Wow, I am meeeeeedddddiiiicated.

Yum, snow ice cream. I haven't had that in a billion years, and don't even know how to make it. I remember a period of my childhood where my mom didn't want to make it, I think because someone had told her it would have radiation in it -- this was way back in the ::coughcoughsixtiescough:: -- but eventually she relented and we had it again.

We also used to make snowcones from the frost in the freezer compartment!

God, I feel like Laura Ingalls Wilder.

I don't know if there's even a recipe. Just...sugar and milk and vanilla extract until it tastes good? I will have to do a google search.

I think we skipped it for awhile because of acid rain or something. So I feel ya on that. Mmm, making treats from sky stuff! It's like eating cookie dough--I don't really care that scientists say you shoudn't do it anymore. THIS IS MY CHILDHOOD, YO.

So I asked Hepmom about snow ice cream when we had our Saturday chat, and she said the stuff I grew up on had raw eggs in it too. She basically made an eggnog (but w/ vanilla not booze), then piled as much snow in as possible. The eggs were probably more dangerous than the snow.

And she said my grandfather was worked up about fallout from the space program. ???!! As a coworker of mine says, "Oh, Grandpa!"

You could just buy store eggnog, I guess, and add snow. My snow's all old now. :(

Yeah, we never had eggs in our snow ice cream. Stuff was always kind of gritty in places, runny in others. (But delicious.)

Old snow is sad. :(

Me too!

And this is the part where I feel bad for people who don't get snow ever.

Yes, snow is pretty, heee! It's snowing here too, and I can tell you it doesn't happen often. Unfortunately, it probably won't last long.

Yay snow! We've had years where we don't get good snow till January. But this has been a wet cold, year all around.

OH MY GOD, SNOWCREAM om nom nom

I haven't had any in forever. When I was little (and it actually snowed here, lol) The Fairy Godmother used to make it every time it snowed - then she'd freeze some, so I'd be rockin it in like, July!

...which, she told someone recently, gave me unrealistic expectations of the weather *snicker*

Ah, we could never hold onto that long enough for July. :D It would get eaten by April, I'm sure.
