I'm not gonna lie, my first thought re: Bobby was that Zach's "never walk again" meant he'd die? For some reason. It wasn't until later, when Bobby's doc was apparently saying the same thing, that I actually GOT IT. But then I was sort of wrapped up in expecting TRAGIC THINGS to happen, because that's how I roll. But still. Eeeeek.
As for the GED, I loved it. So much. I've dropped out of high school (sort of; homeschooled, it's complicated), and am putting off even attempting the GED (math, aklhnalhatehate) - and at the risk of sounding like a freak, that actually sort of almost made me want to go for it sometime within the next year or so, instead of waiting forever. I'm not really sure why maybe so I can use that quote but just, yeah. *inarticulate handflailing*
My gosh, I want SO MUCH BOBBYFIC out of this season, especially if he really does end up being crippled. H/C OMG. I adore Bobby so much, and I love how Dean tried to comfort and reassure him that everything's gonna be okay, even though it's technically the end of the world.
And your feeling about the GED? That is FREAKING AWESOME. DO IT DO IT DO IT. I was homeschooled too, but in my state every homeschool is treated like a private school, so we just bought a blank diploma from a store and filled it in. (I actually did the calligraphy on it myself, hee.) And I know how you feel about math. ACKGAH, AWAY FROM ME, SPAWN OF SATAN.
Just think how cool it will be when you can use that line. \o/
I love Bobby, but I can't seem to write him aside from as a minor character from someone else's POV. But yeah, I look forward to seeing him pop up a lot more in fic, it'll be great! And Dean's attempting to reassure Bobby made me want to hug him. He always does that, says everything's great even when it's literally the end of the world (which is probably why the end scene killed me so hard, because it was so different from that). <3
Hee! I'm glad it's freaking awesome and not creepy or obsessive? xD People I know have done the diploma thing, too, but since I quit before the end...
But, yeah probably once family crap settles down I'll go for it. Kind of can't decide if I should tell my mom "Supernatural made me want to do it!" or not, since she's been trying for forever to get me to, haa! :)
I think saying that line is going to be my first order of business, oh yes.
I loathed High School and I was a geek! HATED the graduation ceremony. My parents forced me to go--I would rather have tested out. Believe me, Dean had more important things to do then scramble for a piece of paper in yet another crappy school full of snobbish students.
Both my high school and college graduations were very special to me--but then, they were very small and intimate, too, 21 homeschool students from the Fort Wayne for my high school graduation and maybe a hundred and fifty for my college graduation. I guess I wanted Dean to experience something like that, but it's probably impossible, with the chronic Winchester lack of outside connections. ::sigh::
You know, I always thought of Dean only bothering to go to school because Sam had to go to school. So him getting his GED makes a lot of sense. But yeah, Dean not having that moment of his own- makes me sad :(
'course he'd also be the kid who wouldn't bother to go because it's a stupid ceremony and he's a guy who appreciates actions more than words.
And you totally aren't the only one who immediately flashed to the Oracle ;)
I'm with Cattraine... only I didn't go... to high school OR college graduation ceremonies. High School lost out to a rock festival..(hmm, boring ceremony vs 3 days of music, drugs, sex and mud = no brainer) for college... well at a school with 20,000 plus students...um, sorry no freaking way. so yeah, I can totally see Dean blowing off that kind of thing. Also just a comment about Bobby,(not really spoilery but if you are really sensative stop now) don't know about the walking thing (though I vote that he will get up) as to dying...no way - especially since they did offer him a "regular" spot for the season, that he turned down because he didn't want to move to BC full time, preferring to do (hopefully) numerous guest appearances instead.
That's cool, thanks for the information. I by no means meant to denigrate people who have GEDs. If the laws were a little different in my state, I'd probably have one, too.
