There is something about INTP open that seriously grates. Especially if you try to hang out there for a while. I have pretty much given up INTP lists and other gatherings a while back. Either I am not one of them, or I am an unusual variety, or INTPs just annoy each other :\ Anyway, I have been bored with MBTI for some time. Not enough depth to it ( Read more... )

If I'm an mbti INFJ, does that mean I'm a socionics INFJ or socionics INFP or could I be something different in that system?

there is no one-to-one correspondence, especially not with any INxx. I don't think you are socionics INFj. You have quite different energy. I think Val is likely one. You are probably closer to INFp and the second quadra in general. But I am hardly an expert typer or an expert of any sort on socionics. It really is a complex theory. So convoluted it gets unusable for anything other than pure theorising if you go in too deep (too many Ne+Ti people involved in the creation).

Ah, I see. I've definitely been a bit confused by socionics the rare glances I've given it.

It's multi-layered and quite Ti. Structures, structures, structures. Not much concern for making it accessible, not among the "gurus", anyway. It's primarily been in the hands of the eggheads, unlike MBTI, which has been developed largely by NFs who have concentrated on real world application and other warmth and fuzziness ;D

One of the things you get with any kind of type forum is that people tend to get really identified with the types, and kind of play it up. But part of what draws them to the discussions about those kinds of types is often the feeling that they fit one of those types well in the first place. This may be especially true in a forum dedicated to one type; in groups focused on an entire system, you'll also get the Habaneros who keep trying in vain to solve the problem of which type they fit. So, your most stereotypical examples will be there, or else just people who really see themselves in the descriptions even if they miss something vital about the type itself. (Provided the type has any kind of vitality to it.)

Hi

I discovered you yesterday, or met you online, when you responded to a response of mine to Val.

I also used to think I was INTP until I subbed onto an INTP list, and immediately started feeling put down and rejected by their posts, and I stopped myself thinking, "Well this is dumb. These folks don't know I exist, how could they be rejecting me?" I was expecting to read their posts and feel like I relate instead of getting the opposite. And then my intuition chimed in and pointed out, via inner knowing, that I was judging these people by the way their words feel. Oops ( ... )
