Patience grasshopper. I've been at it 10 years now. One of the things that help us was to set up a budget and give ourselves an allowance. We each get $X per month to do as we please. If he or I want something to get, we save for it from out personal allowance. This way, I don't get surprised with $800 digital SLR camera out of the blue. And I don't need to explain yet another $1,000 LV bag.

When we leave the apartment in the morning, I turn off the heat for the day. Sara and I walked in last week and hear the blower on and Sara says "Mommy, you forgot to turn off the heat. That is money you are never going to get back and was a waste of resources". That's my girl!
