Fixing the broken faces: Opinions please.
So, as many of you might have discovered yourself or found out on the Intarwebs, several of the Maxis pre-mades have broken face templates or have had other peculiar things done to them. I've been trying to identify them all, especially the playables, which you can read more about here. strange_tomato and I are working on fixing them all, so I can update my clean templates and the uberhood with the fixed faces. In some cases, this is quick and easy to do. In others, the faces have to be reconstructed from the base template, which is what strange_tomato is working on. See her work on Jessica Picaso here.
With most of these sims, it's just a matter of fixing them so they will look the same through all lifestages. But then... we have some special cases.
Gilbert Jacquet, Denise Jacquet and Jasmine Rai do not have broken face templates, but Maxis apparently have used surgery on them. Their genetics do not match their looks, as anyone who's tried to extract them with SimPE will have discovered. These "hidden" looks are passed on to their children. So I figured it would be best to make their looks and genetics match, but the question is, which one to keep? The genetic look or the surgeried look?
Then there's Hal Capp and Violet Jocque, who are based on the broken templates 21 and 25 respectively (what they will look like as adults), but since they are child/teen at the beginning of the game, people will be more used to the way they look then. Child Hal has template 2 features instead of template 21 features, while Teen Violet's 25 features have been replaced by 26/elf features.
We'd like everyone's opinions on which looks to keep and which to discard in the clean 'hood templates and uberhood, to minimize the unpleasant surprises. :)
Oh, and if you know of any more sims with broken faces that aren't in my list, particularly playables, please let me know.
Violet's one of those sims whose face needs to be reconstructed, so I took pictures of her at different life stages instead. The adult look is what she "should" look like. The difference is most obvious between adult and elder.
