Feb 08, 2012 08:03

Hi guys, this is a bit late again, but there's plenty of time left in February to try this challenge if you want. ;)

For this month, we'll building a house especially designed for any of the bin families.

It can be a bin family native to a particular hood (like Singles or Capp) or any of the EPs bin Families like the Traveller. Which family is up to ( Read more... )

Oh wow, this fits perfectly with an idea I've had in mind, but have been very unsure about whether I should be going with or not ('cause I don't need to be starting new projects... again), but perhaps this is a sign. :D

(Also, should the middle one say 3 to 4 members...?)

Edit: Oh, and are custom lot sizes allowed? Like say, 1x2?

oops, Right! Fixed, thank you! :D

I'd love to see what you do. The idea is to have a very open building challenge to vary a bit (All the building challenges so far have been a bit too restricted, apparently lol)

Edit to answer. I didn't even know there are custom lot sizes out there, Are they classified as Small/Med/large too? If so that would do perfectly fine (if not then just make sure the lot size is in right range, like if it's 1x2 it would be small, and so)

The custom lot sizes have all been shrunk (or extended) with the LotAdjuster, I believe. So they appear in the regular lot bin, not in the empty lot bin, unfortunately. But yeah, it should be easy enough to calculate what range they would fall into. :) I only ask 'cause I rarely build (new) houses on anything much larger than 2x2 - 3x3 anyway, and sometimes I like working with even smaller sizes. ;)

Yeah, I agree about the lot sizes. I also rather regular residential lots to be small-ish, but here you have the option. (So if anyone wants to build a mansion for Albany's family or a huge farming lot for the Ottomas, they can ;))

I havent decided on the family yet but I have a question. Can it be a dorm in the case of uni bin sims, or a place with a working business or does it have to be a residential only place?

The idea is to create a place for he bin-sims to live in.

So if you want to try YAs from the bin you could do a dorm (I didn't even think about the so thank for mentioning it), and you can make a "home with a home-business" if you think that would work for your sim (for someone like Chester or cyd could be really cool, for example), as long as it is a "home" for that sim (I mean, not like an office with bed to sleep in, when he/she has too much work lol)

Can I combine two bin families? For example, move in Ajay with Cyd and build them a shared pad?

Yes you can. :)
It was mentioned in this post with extra notes about the challenge:
