Alabama, and I go to school in SOUTHERN Alabama, which is worse than the northern areas. I tell you there are still slurs being spit, sprayed, and presented rather publically hewre, even in this school. Ignorance runs rampant. The first week I moved in I was yelled at, called "nigger" by a passing driver, simply because I accidentally moved into his lane and back into mine. Racism and high Christian morals are very much a reality in this area.
Granted, I have made some wonderful friends here, met people from all over the south who give me hope that, yes, things could change, but overall, in regards to the majority, it's exceedingly tragic how much negativity surrounds this state and most of it is true.
