Never have I ever...

Yes, I watched "The Moment of Truth" (and so can you). That "repetitive and irritating" (Boston Globe), "abhorrent, asinine" (Seattle Post-Intelligencer) show. The issue is that of finding the "true average," and learning not to mistake it with the fluctuations. A lie detector may provide you with more accurate data, and it is your job to do statistical analysis on it ;) The sugar-coating smoothens things up, but it also raises the average by an indeterminate amount. There is value in knowing the true average, but also in knowing the fluctuations - to know when to avoid, when to ask for a favor, when to offer help.
