Aren't I too old to be having younger man dreams? What I mean is, I've started thinking about the things I was thinking about then I was in high school. And no, it wasn't sex, drugs and rock and roll but making an impact on the world, running my own business and being creative ( Read more... )

I have those dreams all the time. I'm still hoping to do something memorable and creative with my life, although it looks less and less like that will ever happen.

Plus, at least you're happy. I'm not.

::HUGS::

You've built a house, that's pretty memorable I think. And I think you're an awesome guy.

Sorry you're unhappy. Wish I could offer some help but I really don't know what would help for you. :(

Maybe it is your minds way of saying to go back and find the spark that youthful dreams are made of. You are never to old to try to make a difference in the world, you just need to find a way that works with where you are.

It's just so costly to do anything that I want to do. But I need to push myself to find some solutions or I will very likely fade back into depression.

Youthful dreams are important to keeping you young.

I believe that society often looks at "creative" people as those who are still trying to find themselves. To some extent that might be true. Those who are still trying to find their place in the world are often more willing to do interesting things. These activities are very enjoyable, but they often don't "pay the bills".

When we reach middle age, it is assumed that we have figured everything else and that it is time to settle down and have the family, mortgage, 8-5 job, etc. But I believe that is largely because individuals at that age are obsessed with financial and other concerns (like saving for retirement, saving for your kids' college). These things aren't bad things, but they often distract us from doing things we enjoy. I believe it all comes back to the idea of finding balance in life. To be truly happy, we have to balance our work, family, personal, and spiritual lives. Each is very important, and each deserves a chunk of our time and resources :)
