Well, I think you're probably the only one, but one can hope, right? :)
Anyway, yes, mobile homes do tend to be bad investments in most cases. But does include actually property and 90% of the value of the place is in the property.
Also, with the rising costs of Utah housing, 15% in the last 3 months!, even mobile homes/manufactued homes are gaining appreciably in value. BUT, because of the sub-prime issue and general lack of precieved value, there is not a single mortgage company willing to lend on them unless they are, 1) on a fixed foundation and 2) doublewide. And the manufactured houses that meet those requirements are out of my pricerange, which is capped at $130k.
I'm sure I'll find something eventually. It's just annoying and stressful to have this all coming down right now.
The area is all, or mostly anyway, mobile homes but most of them do have permenant additions. Many of them look to be fixed to foundations but the one I'm looking at is not. It'll be about $5000 to put it on a foundation.
An interesting idea to buy up parcels and turn them into apartments. West Jordan is pretty picky about the areas it allows high density housing, but this is probably one of the places they'd allow it.
Sounds like things are on a generally upward trend. Go Mav!
Yeah, housing is one of those things that just consumes you when its uncertain, but it sorta has to, especially when your looking after little ones. Much prayer, hope and sheer luck for you.
Oh, I did one of my "download and purge" bits with my posts. Since I've not gotten many comments I glossed a bit and didn't get to reply to your response to my movie review.
You've given me some more bits of history to research, and you'd imagine that the trek the mormons took from Palmyra might have made them a bit ready to fight. Anyway, I still say the movie has nothing to do with LDS per se, its a political movie that says, "SEE! American's have their OWN jihadists! We're bad too!" Which, of course, is absolute bullshit.

All the best of luck for you, Mav. Sorry you're going through such stressful times right now. At least some things seem to work out, though.
I'm squeezing my thumbs for you, which is a German good-luck gesture. :-)
