QIP!

For those of you who don't know, my lab partner sultanpepper and I implemented Grover's algorithm, a quantum needle-in-the-haystack algorithm on the two qubit ensemble NMR quantum computing Junior Lab system. We were able to get a heretofore unreachable forty runs on all four possible oracles. The oscillatory behavior of the algorithm is very clear and visible ( Read more... )

What do you mean by "heretofore unreachable"? Like, is this a world record, or just for jlab?

No, this is using the Junior Lab setup. I think the previou record was 20 runs or something. :)

The junior lab record was 15. The highest I could find in literature was 37 (there could have been higher that I didn't find), although to be honest, more than about 7 stops being computationally interesting... higher numbers are mainly interesting in a "taking our system to the very limits of coherence" sort of way.

This weekend I suspect I will observe many systems at the very limits of coherence.
