Hmmm...so, I wonder, is it a sin to update one's blog on the Sabbath?  Obviously the Orthodox would say so, and there're few hard-and-fast rules in Reform, but there still ought to be some sort of norm for this sort of thing.  It's writing, so I have a feeling I'm pushing it in any case.  On the other hand, I can't go to synagogue and reading the ( Read more... )

Hebrew not necessary?! Updating live journal is not blasphemy, but that is. Imagine the Sh'ma in English. No way, no how I'm doing that. I liked the Conservative services yesterday, except for the less than great execution of them and my inability to read Hebrew coupled with the scarcity of transliterations. As I've said before, non-transliterated Hebrew is the bane of my existence.

Heh, well, even the Classical Reform synagogue I went to in St. Louis had the Shema in English, and I don't deny that Hebrew is *nice*, just no strictly *neccessary.* =)

Ack, I meant that they had the Shema in HEBREW. Ha, leave it to me to say exactly the opposite of what I mean. :P
