The final (I swear this time) drabble

The meeting broke up. Severus hung back, waiting until the kitchen had cleared out a bit. He caught the eye of the red-haired man not old enough to be his peer, but not young enough to be his child, and let his gaze linger for a moment longer than he’d normally allow.
Bill shuffled the parchment he was holding tensely in his hands and told his father goodnight. He never stayed longer than was necessary anyway. Looking at Severus again, his intension imperceptible to anyone other than this man, he nodded his head slightly and left.
Sirius, still sitting in his chair at the table, only lifted his eyes slightly as Snape turned to leave mere minutes later; he saw the faint, eager smile on the man’s lips that he had bore witness to several times over the past year, whenever they knew they’d have a spare moment together. The other man pretended not to notice the steely stare; he’d deal with Black later.
