Having already put 6 rounds in the enemy, I am unsure why you would jack out the unspent round, rather than simply making it round #7.

The worst, and I remember this for the longest time, was an episode of a show I think was called "Midnight caller" and the radio host in question was in a bank being robbed. Now one of the stock Hollywood characters at the time was "Crazed Vietnam Vet" (this was in the '80's), and the robbery team has one CVV on the crew, who was armed with a pump shotgun, and EVERY time he screamed at a hostage to sit down, or shut up, he would punctuate his shout by pumping the shotgun.

He must have been the Barney Fife of the crew, because halfway through the episode his shotgun would have been empty.

(Not to mention that to pump a cocked shotgun, you have to press a thumb release.)
