My (usually) gentlemanly Somali did that to my mom a few years back, back when they were both alive. She was watching him for me while I was away on vacation, and she was eating dinner in her kitchen. Mom's dining table chairs were these really low-slung bucket-like padded chairs, very comfortable but as I said very low to the floor. She had grilled some fresh salmon, and was reading while she was eating, her fork held up and off to the side while she was chewing. She had her next bite of salmon on the fork, and since she was reading she didn't notice my cat behind her. Now Tybalt (the afore-mentioned Somali) was usually a very well-mannered cat, but he really wanted that salmon, bad... and he evidently snuck up behind Mom, and then leaped up and batted the salmon on her fork, sending it flying through the air to the other side of the kitchen, with him in hot pursuit. Mom said she was so totally shocked by this that she just sat there bemusedly watching my (USUALLY) well-behaved and gentlemanly cat devour her piece of salmon ( ... )
