I am totally fascinated by Marina Abramović's The Artist Is Present at MoMA. It's a performance art piece in which Abramović sits at a table in the middle of a gallery. She is silent, wearing some sort of long tunic dress that exposes only her face and hands. Her hair is braided and falls over one shoulder. Museum guests are invited to sit across

i love that you wrote about this. and i love the idea of it, because my favorite thing to do already in art museums is stare at things until i cry. i mean i don't always set out to do that, but knowing that sense of calm and connection will come over me is a big part of why i love to see art. so i can totally, completely relate to this woman's viewers.

I can relate to them, too. I had to kind of immerse myself in the idea before I really got it, but then I got it in a rush. And connection, yeah--I mean, what else is art about? Provocation, beauty, and connection.
