The Rockman franchise is divided in independent continuities, so you could just pick one and play the games in succession. To give you a handy list:

- Classic
- Legends/Dash (which I recommend regardless of existing fandom)
- X, Zero and ZX, which form a single continuity and are separated by time skips
- BattleNetwork/EXE
- Star Force/Ryuusei, which, while considered the spiritual successor of EXE, it's not a sequel

I can tell you those with the most shipping going on are the X and EXE continuities.

Start with 1, play as far as you can until you give up, play 2 and on, maybe come back to 1 later.

I don't know how I ever played and beat 1, I really don't. -_-
