One almost wishes Next Gen stopped making movies after first contact.

Insurrection sucked but I am apparently the only Star Trek fan on Earth who was pleased by Nemesis. People kept saying that Stuart Baird's direction stunk but after seeing the deleted scenes on the Collector's Edition DVD I don't blame him for cutting them in the slightest.

I'm not concerned about his direction. The story sucked. lame, lame villain.

Hey, I noticed you deleted a post from the Harry Potter thread. How come? I wasn't offended by it.

I disagree but probably only because I have a man-crush on Ron Perlman. :D

It was just something I didn't feel comfortable discussing. I'm a prude that way. It's one of my many faults. It had nothing to do with you.

Upon reading the episode synopses a bit ago, Season 2 seems better than when I first watched it, but not much. It's okay, that's for sure. But as I'm going through Netflix rewatching the series (and giving the discs to some friends and family so they can watch for the first time) I've skipped all but the last disc of Season 2.
I'm having them watch "The Jem'Hadar", then move onto the awesomeness in Season 3-on.

Crossover, Necessary Evil, Blood Oath, and The Wire are great too and set up awesome things in later seasons. I don't think you can enjoy the Improbable Cause/ The Die is Cast and In Purgatory's Shadow/ By Inferno's Light two parters without having seen The Wire. And the Mirror Universe arc starts with Crossover.

Interesting point about the Dax symbiote, and it's something I thought of as well. Compare what we know of Curzon and what we know of Jadzia...what does that say about the symbiote?

Wallace Shawn as Zek is one of the greatest castings ever, and the end of "Armageddon Game" is one of the funniest endings ever.

I love First Contact. Even though I'm not a big enough Star Trek fan that I want to own everything, I plan on getting it eventually. It even ties in to the 4 other series (including Enterprise, even though Cochran's story was different in TOS).

Something tells me that despite what Sisko and the three Klingons think Curzon Dax was more than likely a total a-hole. Everything we've seen of him or learned about him basically proves that he was an arrogant, misogynistic jerk. The Symbiont is bad enough but partnered with someone like Curzon he must have been a creep two-fold.

I love Wallace Shawn. His performance is so FEARLESS. I wonder if ANYONE would EVER feel comfortable with a performance that broad and cartoony if they weren't covered in layers of latex. Even so, it's amazing.

They didn't really retcon TOS. It was just stated that Cochrane when he was really old took off for parts unknown. That it was a different actor playing him when he was "younger" doesn't make a bit of difference.

I guess it does fit a little better, I was just thought his personality was different. But I guess since he was at a different age, he didn't have to act the same.

Yeah, he was older and wiser in Metamorphosis so it's no surprise he was more subdued. First Contact even said that he evertually settled into his role as a leader of the peace movement.
