Put up or Shut up

One of the most aggravating things about fandom is people screaming for a specific release on DVD but whenever there is something wrong with the DVD like a minor edit or cut people say they aren't going to bother buying the DVD. Now I KNOW there are some people who truly WOULD buy The Muppet Show if it was completely uncut and ALL of the music ( Read more... )

it was really odd last september when this happened. it was like, they were so knee-jerk in their reaction of bashing that they couldn't help but to continue to bash, no matter what. when pressed, they would say something like, "This is just a money-grab!" Maybe, but it IS what we've been asking for. "You know that, next year, they'll put out the originals remastered for the 30th anniversary mega-set." That set has long been rumored, but I have YET to see any details on it. if it's coming this fall, you'd think we'd have heard something.

I hang out on AICN, and one of the reviewers there said "If you buy these discs you lose all right to complain about Star Wars." I was appalled by that statement on several levels.

I just don't understand it and it drives me nuts. Lucas has been capable of making me as crazy as any fan with Episodes I and II sucking so hard and his refusal to put the theatrical version on DVD for the longest time but he FINALLY delivers a pretty good last film AND releases the originals and people STILL complain. Fanboys don't seem to be happy unless they're miserable. Ugh.

Speaking of the Tick, even the second season set will be missing an episode, and a pretty important one, too. I blame Fantastic Four.

The Galactus episode? Or whatever he was called?

Why is it that they have to pay rights for a PARODY of a character? That makes no sense to me. I wish Disney and Marvel could work it out because it's ridiculous to expect The Tick to get rid of it's parody episodes.

Fans can be annoying a lot, but it's good that you have enough integrity to do what you said you would.

I think the fact that they were only limited time releases were what spurred me to do so. I didn't want the stores to run out and make me a liar.

I also promised to buy Battlestar Galactica on DVD since I watched bootleg copies and I DID do that. Integrity is very important to me.
