Good day. I went out with my father today. I got JLU actions figures of Huntress, Vigilante with his pistol and lasso and Orion with his rocket sled. I also picked up the How the Grinch Stole Christmas cartoon on DVD. I'll watch it this Christmas ( Read more... )

Have you seen "Mickey's twice upon a Christmas?" It's pretty good, and there are two donald duck sequances that I suspect are in continuity to the comics. (Mostly because a non-ducktails, non-Mickey's Christmas Carol Uncle Scrooge McDuck shows up. They also mention "Duckberg.") Me and my nephew have been watching this a lot lately.

Meanwhile... I know it's against geek convictions to like a new production over an original cartoon, but damn if I still don't like Jim Carrey's Grinch better. the ending even gets a teer from me! I love that movie round christmas time...

I've never seen either. I will probably get Twice Upon a Christmas at some point on DVD. I'm not that interested in the Jim Carrey Grinch though.

They came out with a Twice Upon a Christmas Comic (I've read it) and nothing in it contradicted anything so I'm willing to count it as "in continuity" which is different for me than "canon". Only Barks, Rosa and Gottfredson are canon for me.

I love your review of that Panchito Pistoles thing. Wait, why did you like the mean-spirited ending? I thought you said you didn't like some episodes of South Park because they were mean spirited.

Downbeat, mean-spirited Carl Barks endings are on a whole 'nother level from downbeat mean-spirited South Park endings. A downbeat Barks ending usually ends with either Scrooge or Donald humiliated publicly and not acheiving their goals, or Donald being run out of town. The ending here ended with Scrooge being branded a dunce on national television while losing a bllion dollars to taxes. A mean spirited South Park ending either has a character dying horribly or toddlers maimed or some other REALLY disturbing thing. Mean-spirited Disney cannot compare and are usually really funny BECAUSE they aren't THAT extreme.
