You're gonna die. We're all gonna die. Could be 20 years, could be tonight. Lately I have been wondering why we go to so much trouble to postpone the unavoidable and prolong the pain of being alive.

I crave relief, but all I've got is this bitter cup.

Maybe the relief is further inside the bitter cup. I bet you $500,000,000,000 it is.

Hey friend,

I just wated to say I've been thinking of you a lot lately. I just finished Letters and papers from prison by Bonhoeffer. I wish I could talk to you about it in person. It was a beautiful book. I'm off to The Brothers K now, which I'm excited about.

I also wanted to send my congratulations to you regarding the new hope for our country's future. May he live up to his promises.

I hope you're well, and that this post isn't too telling.

Mar Mar,

Thanks for this sincere comment. I really love both Letters and Papers and The Brothers K, so that's wonderful.

I've been reading your blog and I even tried to post an encouraging comment, but it didn't go through and my internet connection was being finicky.

I think what you're doing is great and I'm praying for you. I hope we can catch up when you get back.
