Christmas party, ringing

Friday was the work Christmas party. People were getting very drunk; I left the time that people started doing lapdances for each other! I didn't take any photos, but I know there are some somewhere. It's the debauchery of the drunken kind that I'm not so keen on.

When I was a kid I always wanted to go bellringing, I think I even wrote to Jim'll Fix It. I wouldn't mind giving it a go now, if my hands and arms were up to it.
Sounds like fun, no pun intended.

If you have the coordination and strength to ride a bike or use a handtools such as a spanner then you should be fine with bellringing.

Take a look at http://www.ringing.info/middx-towers.html for a church near you and just turn up. Most towers (few exceptions - e.g. most cathederals , York Minster, Manchester Town Hall) have an open door policy, particularly those in London. Just arrive and announce yourself as someone who wants to learn.

My upper body strength has improved greatly from baby wrangling, but I still fear I lack the coordination. Shame, as it would be really lovely to start up a bell ringing group at St Mary's.

Rats, that's two social events I've missed you at (Pembury and BU) due to lack of spoons :(
