“When I read something saying I’ve not done anything as good as Catch-22 I’m tempted to reply, ‘Who has?’”
- Joseph Heller

The buzz leading up to the release of each of the last three Radiohead albums has been pretty much the same: a general air of “maybe this is the album where they stop fucking around with synths and get back to making proper ( Read more... )

IN RAINBOWS is a glorious listening experience. Headphones, loud, good. Need to listen more before giving a better review.

Had this same discussion as well with an avid 'fan'. My only conclusion is that they've come a LOOONG way since they were a pub band. They've got the numbers in the bank account to be comfortable, so why not move and change. You can still play the same old shit at any large festival, like plastic mannequins repeatedly hammering hte same tune, get the cash and waddle off and do what you want for the other days of the year.

as against me said:

"Constant entertainment for our restless minds.
Constant stimulation for epic appetites.
Is there something wrong with these songs?
Maybe there's something wrong with the audience manipulation in rock music. Fucking Nausea."

Hallo, drifted in here via revena's post asking about love songs and was all !!!!! at your particular Radiohead suggestion. This post is great and I will probably point people to it when they make annoying noises to me about In Rainbows. Which, may I say, is absolutely marvellous.

I prefer to judge music on a song-by-song or album-by-album basis; not by the band.
I like Radiohead, but I'm not a fan of the alternate stuff they did. It's just not in my musical tastes, and they are what I go on.
I can't say I've ever resented them for that though, you can't hate a writer cause they write a book you didn't like. It's just plain stupid.
Anyway, I guess I'm saying you should be a fan of the art, not the artist.
