Review: Apple slimline USB keyboard

So yesterday I went out and bought myself a whole bunch of shiny new things, justifying each purchase with the fact that I was paying less than retail for it (especially the $109 shoes I got for $60).

One thing I bought was the new Apple keyboard. I hadn't expected to like it at all, because it looked just like a laptop keyboard, and I hate hate ( Read more... )

I read it works on XP, so I'm going to get one. I tried to buy one today, but the Apple store was closed!

I'm such a magpie! It looks lovely. Guess I'll go visit the new Mac store near campus and see what I can get with my uni staff discount.

Seriously, I was happy to pay $70 for this, given how much I've spent on other (*coughmicrosoftcough*) keyboards in the past.

The keyboards on Apple's notebooks, at least, have been different for ages. The original iBooks were the first - they had a lower-case sans serif font on their keyboards. My MacBook Pro, I think, has the same font as the new Apple Keyboards.

Does your new one glow?

The Mighty Mouse has a nipple. This sets it apart from all other mice.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure the typeface was still the same. I may be wrong, but I don't remember seeing another Mac with the new typeface. I'll have to examine yours closely :P

My keyboard doesn't glow, which has caused some disappointment amongst Macbook afficionados, but I'd find it really distracting, given that I only use my computer where it's pretty light anyway. Already I'm finding that the glare off the aluminium has to be carefully managed.

The nipple is taking some getting used to.

OK, this confirms that at least the new Macbooks are using VAG Rounded. I think I remember the old iBooks as not, though.
