I was recently watching Two Weeks Notice, and now I find myself thinking a little too hard. Not so much about the movie, because really, since when does anything with Hugh Grant in it require high brain function? But about the attractiveness of his accent, or accents in general ( Read more... )

Yay I have just the icon for that! XD

I don't know about any other accent, but for me, British accent does it every. Single. Time. It makes me automatically melt. I seriously don't know why, but I think it's so sexy! And as much as I hate French people speaking English with their horrible accent, I absolutely can't resist an English person speaking French with an English accent. I remember going to a Franz Ferdinand concert in France and Alex Kapranos was saying little phrases in French from time to time... it almost made me die of squee.

I don't think Australian accent would do it for me, though; most of my English teachers were Australian and looking back, I really didn't think their accents were glamourous or cool or cute at all.

What?!? I love French people speaking English with their horrible accent!!! I don't know what it is, but I think it sounds pretty sexy! And I pretty sure that anyone who speak British English can only do all kinds of right. It's like a rule or something.

I agree that Australian accents aren't glamorous at all, it sounds a little lazy and messy, and reminds me of Crocodile Dundee every time, who I find weirdly attractive... But I think it's really, really cuddly cute. That, and Australian accents remind me of half-naked tanned surfer boys, running in slow motion down the beach, with sun bleached wind tousled hair. With the setting sun and waves crashing as the back drop. Mmmmm.

So. Since you've had Australian instructors, does that mean when you speak English, you have an Australian accent too? There was this one woman I met a long, long time ago that was from Hong Kong, and because her teachers were from the UK, she had a slight British accent, which was super fun!
