I'm watching the ACC championship with Aiden on ESPN. Dickie V was raving on and on (as he normally does) about Duke, when Aiden finally chuckled and said

I understand the annoyance; however, in my humble opinion, Coach Vitale was a key person in getting ESPN off and running some 20 years ago. His enthusiasm set him apart from the typical network announcers (or school-selected announcers). I remember some people watched just to hear what he would carry on about (similar to Howard Cosell, although with a much different style

Point well taken.

Of the announcers, Vitale is the least annoying - it's just that he wears me down after a while. The fact that everyone else tries to copy his style and passion is more annoying than Vitale himself.

I still say Packer's an idiot, though. 8{)}

no argument here.... although, i'm sure he is laughing (crying?) all the way to the bank.

Somebody somewhere must think he is doing something right... personally, I would rather listen to the radio commentators.
