A Religion For Robots

This address by Christian cognitive scientist Edmund Furse is a totally straight-faced explanation of how robots, in his opinion, will be able to do things like sin, or communicate with God. An excerpt:

This guy has nothing better to do than talk about robots praying, etc. I've heard it all now! First of all... who cares! Second of all... Robots wouldn't waste their time on religion! Third of all.... Did I mention who cares!

By the very creation of an AI, the theory of a soul would be destroyed anyway. Not too mention the fact that the Christians believe that souls go to heaven or hell. So if we are going to take up this ridiculous argument then the answer to the question, can a robot go to hell, would be NO!!!!!!!! Robots don't have souls. They are machines... nuts and bolts!

I personally believe in energy transference, and that we possess a soul/spirit. I don't believe that we will be able to create an AI that possesses the ability to learn and think. It's cool for Sci-Fi, but I think it's very improbable. I do believe in the trans-humans, however. Modifying what we have is more probable in my mind... but these are my thoughts on the subject, and I don't claim to be an authority.
