Why can't I renew my paid account on LJ??? Each time I try it, my cart is emptied as though the transaction was successful, but it's not because I still don't have a paid account

Hey! They renewed existing paid accounts for three months due to the situation! And that even included mine, somehow - even though my paid account had already expired, I guess they decided to include users whose paid accounts expired this year or users who have ever had a paid account or something. Yay! :)
I'm still probably gonna be somewhat anxious for a while until the situation is resolved because the situation is ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING unless I know it'll ever be resolved, but at least now I have all my userpics and the ability to add notes and see my existing notes again. :)
Russians can’t use PayPal, Google or Apple Pay and some major credit cards right now. Plus there’s a big possibly LJ will be gone when Russia goes to private internet on the 15th
Yeah, I heard about lots of companies not allowing payments/transactions in Russia. I still didn't think that would prevent LJ users in the US from being able to renew their paid accounts, but apparently it did. I'm scared because I don't know how long it'll last or if it's even temporary at all! :O

The thought of LJ going down has been one of my biggest fears for a LONG time - five years ago I was anxious and depressed for the majority of the year because I thought LJ would shut down, and knew that even if LJ stayed around, several of my friends had moved to DW which meant I basically had to create a DW just to keep in touch with them. Yes, it's been a rough couple of weeks here. Everyone is backing up their journals and making DW accounts. Hell, a lot us didn't think we'd be here TODAY. I've been very stressed about it.
I wish someone had warned me about this before now!!! :( While I was WONDERING if something like this would happen when I heard the news over the last month, I didn't think this would ACTUALLY happen!!
I already have a DW account and have even backed up my LJ to it five years ago, but I was really hoping I wouldn't have to back it up AGAIN. And that LJ wouldn't go down before I had fixed all my DW entries so that all the links would go to the DW versions of my entries and not the LJ ones, images in my DW entries were also hosted on my DW, and so on...
I've heard that *if* LJ does go down, it may just be a temporary outage... but the fact that it might go down at all is just terrifying to me!
Even if this all turns out fine, I'm not going to KNOW that for at least four days, so I have to suffer through four days' worth of anxiety regardless. I'm not looking forward to that. I was JUST starting to feel better about the LAST situation that seemed 100% hopeless!!
DW isn't owned by the same company, and isn't in Russia, so no, DreamWidth most likely isn't going anywhere because of this... but since I'm OCD, I don't like the idea of having my LJ and DW be too different from one another. It caused me enough anxiety that I had to create a DW as a backup five years ago to begin with, and that the auto-import from LJ left out some things that I had to re-add manually one by one (and recently cross-posting from DW to LJ was disabled, so that doesn't help either).
I don't know a whole lot about the issue, and I have so much anxiety right now that I'm not the best one to ask about it. But on here it says: "Due to all RUB transactions being stopped by WebMoney it's no longer possible to pay for an LJ Shop order with WebMoney." Which means it's no longer possible for me to renew my LJ paid account (which just expired recently). And now apparently there's rumors of LJ going down entirely or at least experiencing a temporary blackout... hopefully those are just rumors like the similar rumors in 2017

I didn't mean to trigger things further - I apologize. LJ being owned by Russians now means that they are likely unable to process money unless it's Russian currency or being handled through something other than the systems that have been sanctioned and cut off. I worried about this. I'm not sure about the webmoney system though. I don't know anything about it. Would it help you if I could do something to help cover you for a while with your account? or at least try? I don't want you to be terrified and inconsolable at all. You've struggled enough.
I recently imported to DW also so I had a back up because I knew about the Russian thing and LiveJournal. It's frustrating, but I was worried that there could be interruptions to access. I certainly hope not! But it's hard to say.
You didn't trigger me further - no worries. I'm just inconsolable no matter what until the 15th or 16th and that's if LJ is still up that day. Nothing anyone can do about that. And probably nothing anyone can do to help me with my account. :( But thanks. :)
Obviously this comment isn't going to be relevant anymore but just letting you know I read your post and someday, things will go back to normal re paid accounts.
(I do hope the payment situation is over before the NEXT time I need to renew my paid account - which is only a month from now. Or that they extend existing paid accounts again.)

Wait a minute! Have you been able to crosspost from LJ to DW or vice versa?! I've heard people have problems with that.
