It can be pretty surprising to find out that you aren't suddenly cast into the depths of deep deep depression immediately after a family member dies. I remember it too, since my grandmother dying was basically like my second mom dying. I guess the only explanation is that you've already been grieving. But the most important thing to remember, or at least it was for me, is to remember that you aren't grieving "wrong", because the process is unique for everyone who experiences it, each time it happens. Your feelings aren't right or wrong, they just are.
