Prompts post.
I'm not going to make a rules post until we've collected a number of prompts, so I can get some idea about how big this is going to be. But basically, here's how it works:
1. Someone proposes a prompt in the form: Fandom, Character Name, a word or phrase. Or: Fandom, Character Name, Pairing, a word or phrase.
Examples:
Battlestar Galactica 2003, Laura Roslin, memory
Star Trek: The Next Generation, Lwaxana Troi, home is where the heart is
Or:
X-Men, Moira McTaggert, Moira/Sean, long distance
Harry Potter, Molly Weasley/Arthur Weasley, compromise
If the character isn't over 40 until a certain point in the canon, specify:
X-Men, Kate Pryde (Days of Future Past), echoes
Star Trek TOS, Uhura (post-Generations), life is for the living
Star Trek: The Next Generation ("All Good Things" future), Beverly Crusher, Picard/Crusher, love is not enough
My tentative plan is to collect prompts through mid-July. I'll update this information as I see the level of interest.
I would rather not see prompts with tremendous detail (ie, Battlestar Galactica 2003, Ellen Tigh, Ellen and Saul finally get to have their own baby but there are complications and they must turn to Baltar and Caprica for help). Use evocative phrases or single words instead.
Crossovers are allowed. Put them in the format Fandom A/Fandom B, Character Name, prompt. People who know the fandom will know which fandom the main character is from.
2. When we've collected all the prompts we're going to collect, I will create a master prompt post and people can start signing up for prompts. You can choose to sign up for a prompt you created. You can sign up for a prompt even if you didn't provide one; also, you can create a prompt even if you don't intend to write any. Depending on the volume of prompts, there may be a restriction on the number of prompts you're allowed. Prompt sign-up will probably last two weeks also.
3. When people sign up for a prompt, they can also sign up for a posting date. Posting dates will most likely be in the month of September.
Minimum word count for a fic will be 500 words. There's no restriction on vids or fanart.
