The Jeff and I had the last kayak of the year today: first time out on the Quaboag river. We paddled from the put in on 148 up to Quaboag Pond. Lovely, sere, shadowless November day...
There's just something magical about those crisp clear days that Autumn gives us now and then. We had one such last week -- nary a cloud in the sky and hardly a breath of wind (rare out here in the flat lands!) My cousin drove in and he, the 'rents, the bro and I had a great lunch together. I love that particular bright, enameled blue of the clear autumn sky and that particular quality of the sunlight that makes everything look like a Wyeth painting. The Canada geese have started to arrive.
that would be fun! I have a deep fondness for the upstream marshes from 148. Down stream it gets faster and more interesting until the Lucy Stone park take-out after which it goes all whitewater and completely terrifying to me.
