And I look forward to reading your novel when it becomes available to me. I'm not famous for loving difficult reads, but I like insightful fiction that the author felt was important.

The more so because one can't rely on others to have one's own triggers, so you have to think past that and write the framework into the book.

I sometimes think that the ones that cut closest to the bone are the hardest reads (I may be wrong, or perhaps just a guy). I certainly feel that way about a book I wrote but haven't had the courage to go back and finish editing yet. Ulysses is a different kind of difficulty to Anna Karenina. Even The Bridges of Madison County is a bit of work to read on a certain level, despite being a pretty deliberate tear-jerker worthy of the Oprah Book Club. (Hope I didn't offend anyone with that)
The point is, verisimilitude makes the blows harder, and definitely makes the reading go slow, if you can identify with the writer's POV at all. But at least I keep reading. And I remember better.

I was trying to decide if it was a sword or a neon umbrella ;) (Manga has a lot to answer for when it comes to fantasy sword design)
