Five things make a post!

1) I will be guest-blogging at Charlie's Diary (Charlie Stross's blog) next week. It will probably be more formal than my natterings here.

2) Sometime between now and midnight tomorrow, The Unicorn Evils goes live over at Shadow Unit. Even I don't know exactly when. It depends on the web ghoul's schedule and how fast ( Read more... )

Three pages and a bit.

That seems to me to be a hell of a lot of new draft for every single day. 0.o

I'll have to ask my local writer friends, but I doubt they're too likely to disagree.

About 1200 pages a year.

Nut yanno, I know people who sit down and knock out a book draft in a couple of weeks. I am a tortoise by comparison.

Well, yes, but I know some hare-type writers and they sprint for a few weeks or a couple of months max, then do nothing for a while. Your averages are probably pretty similar.

The Information Services department where I work has ruined my plans to spend my entire work day on Monday reading Shadow Unit by instituting new monitoring software. Curses!

Has Charlie used up the non-formal quota with "Vegemite vs Marmite - I like them both!!!"? That was a month ago!

yay on guest-blogging. Amusing since I read both of your ljs, but of course it isn't like any of us are in particularly disconnected communities. You guys have a bit more intimate of an industry of course... :)

and yeah, amazing how applying yourself every day means over time you've made a bunch of stuff. Holds true to other things, rock climbing is just a few routes a week and all of a sudden you are good, theoretically if I had actually kept trying all last year I'd actually have some conversational Thai by now, etc. :)

well, there is slow/steady pace and then there's starve to death pace. Also, I did the maths, that's over a million words. Seems like a good steady pace to me :) (I'm just now catching up on all the books I got via your last sale, btw... loving New Amsterdam).

Mmm... so much work and reading to do this week. Must resist spending all night reading Shadow Unit. I will probably fail my saving throw on this. Sigh.
