I didn't love Rango, what a disappointment. I understood it was clever, visually cool, etc. but I found the beginning fairly boring and the ending more cliched than cliche-subverting. The kids had fun, but it lacked IMHO compared to let's say Pixar films.
It really felt like it was made for adults - like an animated mockumentary of westerns. The cliches went well over the kids heads and the characters simple weren't endearing.
