It's kind of a weird feeling to be jealous of people not for their ability to do math, but for their continued interest in it.

I think this is sensible, actually. There is a common misconception that disposition is qualitatively more malleable than "intelligence".

(To be fair, I'm impressed that you feel jealous of interest rather than ability. Emotionally, I'm the opposite way. Its really stupid.)
