I think your volume equation is wrong in #1. Volume = length x width x height. Therefore, for that shape it would be V = l(w^2).

Oh, okay- so my volume equation should really be V= (96-4w)w^2?

For question 2, you're not using the product rule correctly.

For

V = πr2h,

you'll have

dV/dt = πr2 × dh/dt + d/dt(πr2) × h
