Hard luck... only 18 votes in it in the end. Who were the two independents?

118, not 18, but yeah, close, but no cigar.

2 Independents really annoying, the local paper, naturally, gave them blanket coverage--one is a grocer in the Halifax market complaining about something local, the other was the head of Kerbside, the local social enterprise recycling company--they lost their sub-contract to do the recycling in half the borough last year, and it's been an ongoing issue.

But running in a by election was counter productive, especially given he was effectively splitting our votes off, and we'd been backing them all the way, plus conflict of interest rules would've meant he couldn't do much anyway.

Ah well. Was a good fight anyway.

7.5% BNP oO

Maybe paying 12 year old girls to go in with fraudulent slips is their new strategy ;>

6.5% even, I can't count. Must be some aggressive campaigning up there anyway.

That's quite low for them in this area--they've won Cllrs a few times, the current one got expelled for breaking party policy on a planning decision.

A planning decision on which following party policy would've got him suspended as a Cllr. Silly fules--they never last, but they're about.
