Ah, see, never actually seen a single episode, it finished before I moved in with SB (and thus re-acquired access to a TV).

I really ought to get around to writing those 'intro to politics' posts...

Doh! Stupid woman.

But equally, what happened to her secretary reminding her? Hmmm...

Apparently she herself went to the location and utterly failed to see the press pack (it was a public place) so assumed no one had turned up...

Now you see, this is how I know I'm perverse. Because I find someone forgetting their own press conference to be kind of cool, and rather endearing. It's certainly something I can see myself doing.

However, I'm not sure it would be a great idea to have someone like me running a political party.

Oh, on a personal level it makes her a lot more human. But, um, she wants to be First Minister of Scotland...

Some of the reports I read say she checked and thought no one had turned up, she didn't actually forget, she just didn't notice the journos.

I think that actually makes it slightly worse...

Didn't one of the libdem leadership candidates have some kind of press conference mishap too? Like not telling people where it was or something.

That sounds like Simon Hughes in '06, but I can't remember specific details, I followed the '07 contest a lot more closely and didn't notice anything. Doesn't mean it didn't happen of course.

Hughes is fairly well known for doing that sort of thing, lovely bloke but, well, I'd trust him as party leader less than I'd trust me...
