This is very very cool. MySociety have finished chrislightfoot's ( RIP) London travel-time maps with the help of some cash from the Department of Transport. You can play around with a flash version that compares travel time to Westminster with property prices, etc. Rather nice. The hotspots nearer the edges around train stations and tube stops are a nice ( Read more... )

Didn't they already have a "For Your Eyes Only" with The First Cheesy Bond? (The Bonds go, in order: The First Bond, That Other Guy, The First Cheesy Bond, The Second Best Bond, The Second Cheesy Bond, and The Best Bond)

Anyway, I'm excited for the next one with Daniel Craig. :-D

For Your Eyes is an anthology containing a story called For your Eyes and this one. I vaguely recall reading it when I was about ten.

Lastly, um, WTF? DC Comics to kill off Batman?

I get the sense that killing characters off is the comics equivalent of having weddings in soap operas. A tried and tested method of boosting sales/ratings.

I'm sure he'll be ressurrected a month or two later, or it'll all have been a dream or something. They surely wouldn't be insane enough to really kill off one of their flagship characters?

That's pretty much the consensus. I wonder if they may decide to actually do it just for the unusual nature. We'll see I guess.

It would certainly be an attention-grabber!

Marvel killed a bunch of their characters off a while back, didn't they? But they seem to have so many alternative Universes on the go these days that they can probably get away with that sort of thing quite easily.

I've not read any new comics in ages. I'm afraid that if I pick one up now, I'll be totally bewlidered by it all!
