I'm not saying this to be snide, but because I want you to teach me something.
You know I find 90% (or more) of poetry to be shit.
Well I'm finding it hard to not include this in the 90 right now.
Please help explain what I'm not getting, because when I read that I see nothing but verbal masturbation. The light hitting my eyes feeling like a beautiful, but sorrowfully empty box.
I know this isn't very current and not at all 'hip', but I like eastern, poetry: The Dhammapada, The Tao Te Ching, Chuang-tsu, Rumi, Love poems by the 14th Century Dalai Lama. I like prose that feels poetic: Tom Robbins, Umberto Ecco, even Garrison Keillor can sometimes feel like poetry. I'm honestly not that well versed in poetry, simply because it does tend to turn me off. When I was a kid I liked Poe and Shakespeare, maybe some Emerson, Thoreau and occasionally Yeats, Wilde, and I really do like the romantics. I'm sure I'll delve into more, but I don't go for much more right now.

I especially like the second one. It's a lot less manic than the first and feels a little more coherent.
