[Prologue] [Chapter 1]
Chapter 2:
“You didn’t have to be so direct, Sho,” chided Nino, hands gripping his seat belt as Sho drove the car at approximately a hundred miles per hour.
Nino heard Sho clench his teeth and a squeak coming from Sho’s hand gripping the steering wheel too tightly.
The second after that painter, Ohno, had made his request, Sho replied with a very harsh ‘no’, scaring not only Ohno and Matsumoto, but Nino as well. Before he could get a word in, Sho had whisked him off, mumbling under his breathe, but Nino’s sharp ears caught a ‘how dare he’ and ‘to think he still has the guts’.
“He was the direct one,” replied Sho a while later. From his tone, Sho was probably a lot calmer than he was back at the exhibition, “besides, you have a concert to prepare for,”
Nino nodded. Finally, another concert he could work on. It had been awhile since he had one, since Sho insisted that he needed to rest. Sho had always been on the look out for him and caring for his well-being ever since they met when they were still kids.
It had been a rainy day and Nino had lost his way. He tried crossing a road, but little did he realize the red man was on and a car was approaching him at top speed. Who knew what would have happened to him if Sho had not pushed him out of the way? Then had been best friends ever since.
Nino smiled.
“So…” began Sho, drumming his fingers on the steering wheel, “what do you want your next concert title to be?”
“Niji,” replied Nino.

Ohno watch Jun’s fists turn white as he clenched them tightly to vent his anger. They were on their way back to where exhibition was held and Jun had his famous scowl on, saying something as he did so.
“What?” asked Ohno.
Jun relaxed a little and gave Ohno and apologetic look. ‘I hate that Sakurai guy’ he signed, frowning to show his point.
“But he didn’t do anything wrong,” replied Ohno.
‘I don’t like the way he rejected you’ continued Jun, ‘besides, he wasn’t the one you asked,’
Ohno smiled sheepishly as he recalled what had happened. He did not know why, but when Ninomiya was about to leave, Ohno felt a sudden urge to prevent him from doing so or at least make sure he had a chance to see him again.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Nino sat at the grand piano on what he was told was a grand stage in a magnificent hall. His hands were on the keys, both the black and white ones, but the only way he could tell them apart was because of the fact that the black ones were on top and the white ones at the bottom.
Thinking about the two different colored keys, Nino suddenly felt very depressed as he removed his hands from the piano and crumpled the piece of paper which he was writing the lyrics of his latest song, not that he could see what he was writing, but the producers said they needed it.
When Sho asked what he wanted the title of his concert to be, the first thing that came to mind was ‘Niji’, as he was subconsciously thinking about the painter. A shy smile crept onto his face. Although Ohno was some guy he had just met recently, Nino felt a strange connection between them. Maybe it was because of their undying passion towards the arts despite their respective disability, but Nino knew that was not the answer, there was something else to it.
“Nino!” he heard Sho’s voice call him, as heavy footsteps, which were drawing closer, echoed off the wooden stage. Nino felt something warm and bowl-shaped being pressed into his hands along with two long wooden sticks which Nino had no difficulty telling were chopsticks.
“Dinner time,” continued Sho, stating the obvious, since Nino could tell from the fragrant aroma coming from the bowl in his hands that it was Katsudon, “So how’s your song coming along?” asked Sho as Nino felt him sitting down on the piano chair next to him as he started with his meal.
“Nothing,” mumbled Nino in response, “No inspiration,”
Nino heard some slurping coming from Sho’s direction, grinned and waited patiently for Sho to finish his ramen.
“What inspired you to title your concert ‘Niji’?” asked Sho after a while.
“It’s a secret,” replied Nino. Knowing Sho, he would be thinking that Nino gave his concert that title as when they were younger, Nino had told Sho of his desire to see a rainbow. But the now grown-up Nino knew that his wish was unattainable. This ‘Niji’ was derived from Ohno, the talented painter who could capture a rainbow on a canvas.
“Then how about going to that place that inspired you?” suggested Sho, taking the now empty container from Nino. This was what Nino loved about Sho, he could always come up with such smart ideas. Nino felt Sho got up and heard him walk off the stage with the trash they had made.
In his haste to get to the place which inspired him, Nino did not notice that Sho had meant to drive him there even though he did not say it, and temporarily forgotten his promise to Sho about not going anywhere without him.
That was why Sho dropped the two cups of juices in shock when he returned.
