Chapter 18:

Nino nearly hit the ceiling when he saw a new email by none other than Togami Yukinari. He had been so busy he had totally forgotten to check his email. With shaking hands, he clicked on the message. Togami had sent him best regards, and some documents.

Nino was right. Togami’s recipe was exactly the same as his father’s. In fact, his recipes where photocopies of the original, which just proves that Togami is the murderer. Maybe, no, it’s certain Togami was the other guy who was seen exiting his house that night.

“Don’t worry, otou-san,” mumbled Nino, “I will avenge you,”

Third time’s the charm. So most people say, but in Nino’s case, this rule doesn’t apply. Finding himself in Kanjani8’s office for the third time, Nino was still greeted by the crazy staff, still shocked by their randomness, still stunned by their hyper-ness.

“We did some search of that Togami Yukinari guy you told us about,” started Yokoyama.

But Nino really couldn’t hear him over the loud background noise of the rest of Kanjani8 and Aiba’s cheers.

“And we thought his father, Togami Masayuki, is a better suspect,” Nino heard Yokoyama say, “Ryo managed to do a check on him, and found out that he was in that area at that time,”

“So we now have 2 suspects?” asked Nino, shifting uncomfortably in his seat.

“Yes,” replied Yokoyama flatly, “but Togami Masayuki has a better reason for wanting your parents dead,”

Nino nodded slowly, his evil genius brain starting to work out a plan.

“Yo,”

“You again?!”

Nino had just left his apartment, exhausted from not getting enough sleep as he had 8 retards to deal with. And it was not in the mood to deal with another retard.

“I didn’t realise you live here,” stated Jun, glancing around at his surroundings.

“Says the guy who invited himself over before,” retorted Nino. He was already late for work, and didn’t want to cause George-san any more trouble than he already had.

“I so happen to be in the area,” explain Jun, his eyes darting left and right.

“In the poor people area?” questioned Nino, frustrated that he had even bothered to talk to this weirdo. The train had probably left already, and it’s all thanks to Jun that he had to wait over 10 minutes for the next one. 10 precious minutes which he could use to do something more profitable - like finding the murderer.

Jun then grabbed Nino’s wrist and dragged him towards his waiting limo, “Come on, I’ll give you a lift,”

“There is no way I’m getting into your car!” screamed Nino, struggling against Jun’s strong grasp, “it’s all because I entered your car that all those stuff happened to me,”

Somehow, Nino managed to wiggle free, and was speeding off in the opposite direction in no time.

“What was that supposed to mean?” yelled Jun, chasing after him, not wanting another chance to slip by.

Running down the street, both Nino and Jun were oblivious of the convertible sports car that was tailing them.

“Stop following me!” shrieked Nino in frustration. He was running wherever his legs took him and was most likely even further from his workplace than his was.

“Why don’t you accept my ride then?” replied an equally frustrated Jun. Nino was really fast for a guy his size and he was nowhere near catching up with him. Jun ignored the looks of the passersby, and continued chasing after his one and only target.

Nino glanced over his shoulder and saw Jun not so far behind. His stamina was low and was slowing down. Jun was going to catch up soon if he doesn’t do something. Seeing an alley slightly up ahead on his right, Nino decided to make the turn, and hopefully find a few boxes to hide behind.

To his dismay, the first thing he saw when he turned was a silver coloured limousine blocking his path. He was considering turning around and face Jun instead, when he heard something said, “Don’t be so full of it!”

Nino turned just in time to see a man way taller than him punch Jun squarely in the face. He was even more shocked when he went over and kicked Jun in the stomach when Jun was trying to get up.

Feeling that his first victim would not be getting up any time soon, the man turned around and slowly walked up to his next prey - Nino. He was dressed in a typical business-man-like tuxedo, and wore sunglasses, creating an aura of superiority around him.

Every step he took towards Nino made his heart clench tighter. What would a man like him want with a guy like Nino?

“Don’t come any closer,” stuttered Nino, holding out his clenched fist defensively in front of him.

The man just smirked and continued his journey towards Nino.

It was then Jun decided to speak up, “That hurt, Onii-chan!”

“ONII-CHAN?”

The man grinned widely and whipped his sunglasses off, revealing a face which looks a lot like Jun’s, except more worn.

“At your service,”

Nino was stunned. He was still stunned when he reached his workplace under 15 minutes, thanks to Jun’s unnamed brother.

“…thanks?” muttered Nino, exiting the convertible.

“Anytime,” smiled the other, “you really have the same attitude towards Jun as I do,”

“Huh?”

The latter didn’t answer. Instead, he whipped out a business card and handed it to Nino, “contact me anywhere at anytime you like. I’ll immediately rush over,”

Nino accepted the card with a bow as he watched the convertible speed off, leaving a trail of smoke behind.

When it finally disappeared, Nino read the card in his hands.

“MATSUMOTO TSUKASA??”
