Sciencedebate 2008....

Obama answers the 14 most important questions from the scientific community.

Interesting.

McCain has yet to answer any of these questions though he has been invited to do so. I'll be very curious to see if he answers and if so what he answers.

You might want to read the list of everyone who contributed here.

That small group merely started the process.

I was pleased to see a nod to nuclear power. Disappointed to see him miss Hydro-electric and it's water-source and energy implications.

Scholarships for Science Teachers has been done. Loan Repayment and decent Salaries work even better.

I was disappointed to see a continuation of testing. I spoke this summer with the teacher who was involved with some of the original testing standards. The programs were designed to identify individual students in need of further attention, not as a feedback standard for teachers/schools as they are currently being used. The statistics on the tests when used as designed is pretty impressive. When used as they are...less so.

Although I applaud the inclusion of disease prevention as a cost cutting measure, I was disappointed to see yet another "National Health Care Plan" that fails to address liability and the Trial Lawyers.

I'm giving McCain the benefit of doubt and until Friday (5 working days after I saw that) before forming an opinion on what his choice to not comment is.... It's possible that "has been invited to do so" means "was emailed AFTER we posted Obama's response"... /cyncial

What I find REALLY interesting is that this website is against the internet policy of the multi-national engineering firm for which I work...
