SO, I hate my room mate. We haven't talked to each other for more than a week, and I don't plan on spoiling the tension. Nobody in the dorm has had an extended conversion with him. Some people don't even know who he is. My room smells and I really can't stand to be in there

Training for hiking, now this I know. First get boots. Get good ones. Mine are about $175. Next, take a backpack, put 5-10 pounds worth of stuff in it. Put those boots on. It also helps if you have proper socks. Now, put that backpack on. Go walk a minimum of two miles. Do that every day for a week. Then, after that week, 10-20 pounds, at least once a week, go at least 5 miles. After that week, 20-30 pounds, try and 10 miles at least once a week.

Or, just wing it when you get out there. I'll be laughing.

You'd be amazed the difference boots make, especially for when you're actually out hiking. The reason to wear them when training is to get them properly broken in.
