Paragon/Renegade interrupts, spoiler heavy

I found some spiffy Paragon/Renegade interrupt video compilations on Youtube. It makes me happy because I'm a big softie and can't choose Renegade options to save my life, especially if one of my squad members >:(s at me over it, and now I get to see the dialog I missed. Some of them are really funny ( Read more... )

It's also a legitimately beneficial one, as it means the gunship has no barriers and is easier to take down! :o

I think it's interesting about how what is missing if you never play "the other half" of the game.

I watched a few of the other videos in the related slide to the one posted. In my first playthru, I didn't betray Tali. I finished the game assuming that the only two people truly loyal to Shepard's cause was Garrus, since he had no where else to go and was dependent on Shepard to be his commander, and Joker. I assumed that Tali's loyalties were really to the Migrant Fleet, first and foremost.

But after watching the 'renegade' version of Tali's loyalty mission, where she says "Anyone of your other friends would have shot you on sight, working for Cerberus" it -really- changed the way I think of her character. Playing paragon, she doesn't seem to come across as close to Shepard anymore.

Anyone else have any other similar instances? I want to keep an eye for them whenever I get around to another playthru.

Is that if you betray her? Or if you just end the trial by selecting the renegade quote on the dialogue wheel when they ask for your stance?

Nevertheless, that quote actually makes me a little sad...

Apologies! I meant if the quest ends in betrayal.

For me, there actually a moment when not selecting a renegade interrupt is more fun.

It's when a femShep is talking to the Blue Suns recruiter at the beginning of Garrus' recruitment mission.

Recruiter: Stripper's rooms are to the left

Shepard: *Grumpy face and long silence while the interrupt flashes on the screen*

Recruiter: *In a sad, little disappointed voice* Not even a smile?

Poor guy, he just wanted to flirt a little. Still, it made him my favorite Batarian of all time. I'm trying to work him into my current fic, I just can't come up with a good name.

Ha! I had no idea that's what happened if you didn't take the interrupt on that particular conversation. I've never been able to not get all renegade-y during that scene.

LOL that really happens if you don't choose the Renegade interrupt? I didn't know that. I always tend to feel too insulted to not pull that right trigger on the xbox controller.

Man, for ME1 I was pretty hardcore paragon. Did very few renegade actions, though there were a nice handful in the end.

But 2? I felt like my Shep would be more "screw this, we're doing things my way this time around" after dying and being treated like crap while she was a corpse.

So, yeah, definitely. Did quite a few renegade interrupts. Disabling the gunship, "you talk too much", shooting those mercs, things like that. Less goody two shoes, more badass spectre. Though I still wasn't too renegade - just when people were in her way, and usually after trying to Paragon a "you really ought to back down" and not getting through.
My favorite paragon interrupt, I think, was that kid on Omega. It was a simple little one, just disabling his gun, but it made me smile.

Yeah, I like that one too. I thought the email was a nice touch--I like to think Shep might keep in touch with him now and then, check in and see how he's doing when she's not off cavorting and saving the galaxy. :D

Is it just me, or does that kid have the same voice actor as Jenkins?
