Jack

I've seen some bashing of Jack's romance recently and it bothers me a little. It's not so much the fact that people dislike it; but that they do so either not having played it, or only having seen the YouTube videos showing the final romance scene. Given the information and clues that Jack reveals about her past and current mental and emotional ( Read more... )

Jack's romance wasn't that bad, but I found it overall cliche. I mean, you romance her to know her and help her heal, but as a friend (Femshep or Shep not romancing Jack) you can't ask her those questions since she pushes you away. I don't expect Jack to change instantly into some nicer person (even with the romance), but it would be rather nice just for Jack to show some kind of appreciation and foundation for a friendship.

But it's not just Jack. I wished that the LIs for me2 had a conversation demonstrating a kind of friendship if you didn't romance them (like Samara for example and it's an option to go forward that if you wanted).

I felt the Jack Romance was well done, in fact I kind of don't care for Jack unless I'm romancing her. (I once had the Miranda-Jack fight without enough charm points, and sided with Miranda. Even after I reconciled with Jack she would scream Fuck YOU every time I talked to her. I hate lip from my NPCs and I was like "Oh hell no, I'm killing your ass this suicide mission." Since then she's always grated on my nerves. This is a stupid reason to hate her I know, but oh well ( ... )

I have to get this off of my chest: Your Shepard looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger, circa 'The Terminator'. XD ( ... )

Esp. since Miranda's been used as a sex symbol or apparently using her body to gain advantages. She's engineered to look pretty so Shepard gets hot and heavy with her ... over her body. All the "dat ass" threads elsewhere seem to miss the point or at least not care about the point that the payoff was to have Miranda move beyond viewing herself as a tool, except... then she doesn't.

*shrug* A lot of these romances are sort of creepy actually.

The thing is, I don't think I can recall any scene where she actually promotes her luscious figure to progress anything. I mean she says multiple times that her looks are all genetically tailored to be at their best, along with the rest of her traits but it's almost as if she scorns these parts of her. If she is using her figure to gain advantages, then I blame Bioware for portraying her as so--it's like the camera angles of "dat ass" just don't want us to pay attention to the possibility that she's supposed to be a character who's larger than life.

Every squad mate just seems to have really ugly skeletons in their closets, so I can understand the creepy part as well. xD

a fully informed dislike is better than an uninformed one.

Truth. Good on you for making the effort to stick up for this. I can understand why people dislike it, in the same abstract way that I can "understand" linear algebra, but I still don't actually get either one.
