The link goes to a different thread, but in the DW counterpart of this thread -- https://biowarerpgs.dreamwidth.org/1807664.html -- your initial reply is the only thing to have cross posted up in any direction
Since it's not getting into specifics I'll post it here.
I think MEA should have been about the arrival of the Nexus in Heleus Cluster and dealing with that initial struggle against the suddenly hostile environment, first contact with the Kett & Remnant & Anghara. The Revolt still happens but is shaped by your actions as Pathfinder (the idea there wasn't one on the Nexus is ridiculous), we get a major but not decisive victory against the Kett, and we open the first vault after SAM spends a non-trivial amount of game time figuring out how. DLC is opening the rest of the vaults.
MEA2 would start with the arrival of the arks (which contain an even spread of council races rather than each being dedicated to a single one), leading to tensions with the Anghara (& open hostility with the Roekaar) and the Exiles. The main thrust of the game is colonising the now recovering golden worlds, establishing a working relationship with the Anghara, (which will complicate) trying to bring the Exiles back into the fold, and dealing with a resurgent
